About our English Department

ELA TileAt Law & Tech, our English department consists of talented, passionate, seasoned teachers who understand the importance of reading, writing, engaging in discussion, and critical thinking. Our department utilizes the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Into Literature Curriculum to make sure that we are preparing students for college, career, and beyond.

Students at Law & Tech take the English Regents Examination at the end of 10th grade and have opportunities to re-take the exam in January, June, and August of each school year in order to achieve CUNY's (City University of New York) proficiency requirement which is a score of 75 or better.

Students in grades 10-12 have opportunities to earn college credits through our partnership with AP For All. Our 10th grade students can take AP Seminar which is one of two classes students need to take in order to achieve an AP Capstone Diploma. Our 11th grade students can take AP English Language and Composition and our 12th grade students can take AP English Literature and Composition. All AP courses end in exams in May and students can earn up to 3 credits per course.
