English as a New Language

At Law & Tech our English as a New Language (ENL) program provides instruction in English with support in the students' home language so that they can learn to read, write, and speak English. The goal of the program is to provide supports until our ENL students become English proficient. ENL students are categorized into 1 of 5 different English Proficiency Levels:
  1. Entering (beginning)
  2. Emerging 
  3. Transitioning
  4. Expanding (Advanced)
  5. Commanding (Proficient)
We offer services in two different instructional models dependent on the level of language proficiency: 
  • Stand-alone instruction: Students have a period on their schedule where they work with an ENL teacher and other ENL students on reading, writing, and speaking English. Students also may receive additional supports on assignments for other classes. 
  • Push-In instruction: Our ENL teacher "pushes into" ENL students' English classes to provide in class support.
Students receiving ENL services may receive just "push in" support or "push in" and standalone support. For more information on our ENL program, please see the contact information below:
